Welcome Rev. Bobby Hulme-Lippert

Bobby Hulme-Lippert grew up in Cincinnati, OH where he and his family were active members at College Hill Presbyterian Church. He moved south after high school, attending Davidson College where he majored in history, served in the Army ROTC program, and most importantly, he met his future wife, Michelle! Following graduation, Michelle and Bobby were married in Houston, TX and soon thereafter the two of them U-Hauled their way out to Pasadena, CA. There, Bobby worked his way through the PCUSA ordination process while earning a Master of Divinity at Fuller Theological Seminary. During this time, Michelle and Bobby were able to work together in ministry. In particular, they led youth group Bible studies for a local church, and they had the opportunity to spend a month working with and equipping youth leaders in Chile through Icthus International. As part of his seminary education, Bobby was also privileged to serve as a chaplain to the ICU and amputee wards at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX in the summer of 2007. Throughout most of Bobby’s time in seminary, Michelle taught high school Spanish at Maranatha High School in Pasadena - a private Christian school. After seminary, Bobby spent a year teaching high school English and helped coach the swim team at Maranatha while Michelle completed a masters degree in Hispanic Literature at UCLA. While in California, Bobby developed a love for running, making half marathons, marathons, and even triathlons semi-regular challenges for him. Often, Michelle and Bobby enjoy running and biking together. When he is not active, Bobby is likely to be in a coffee shop, enjoying a good book or an engaging conversation. Bobby believes that Augustine said it quite well when he famously stated, “You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in you.” Bobby’s faith journey has been one in which he has been constantly challenged to let go of his fears and agendas and find peace, joy, and purpose in the gracious hands of God. Bobby’s passion for ministry resides in his desire to share God’s grace manifest in Christ. Such graciousness is often shared by building genuine, trusting relationships and extending hospitality, something that Michelle and Bobby enjoy doing together on regular basis.
