A Note of Invitation from the
Director of Music and the Arts

Music and the creative arts are integral parts of life and worship in the Presbyterian Church. At Clairmont, the arts help reflect our common faith and beliefs, and give expression to our praise of God.

We are part of a growing ministry that seeks to provide an opportunity for anyone interested in making music and using other artistic gifts in the Lord’s honor. Choirs and instrumentalists provide a wide range of music to enhance our worship services throughout the year. Drama teams meet weekly to rehearse their powerful and meaningful presentations in our worship services and at other church events. Through their participation the members of these choirs and teams find fun and fellowship, experience great art and artists in inspiring ways, and receive the benefits of being on a team in active ministry together.

All members of our ministry teams pray together, care for and love one another, and have fun together. They are indeed discovering real life together here. Our children’s music ministry is committed to combining quality musical training with Christian development.

Music and worship have the potential to change lives and bring us closer to the living God. If God has blessed you with a gift for the creative arts as well as desire to participate, then consider yourself invited (and challenged!) to use that gift in the Lord’s honor here at Clairmont!

Soli Deo Gloria!
Mike Strain

YOUTH AND ADULT MUSIC MINISTRY

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir is our main service choir. It is open to all singers of High School age and above. In addition to their wonderful week to week ministry in worship, the Chancel Choir presents two extended works or cantatas each season, usually with professional instrumental accompaniment: the first being presented at the Candlelight Christmas Eve services, and the second sometime in the spring. All music presented during the year includes a wide variety of styles from traditional anthems and motets to spirituals, gospel, and folk.

PLEASE NOTE: Prior experience and full-year/every Sunday commitments are NOT required. While the Chancel Choir team works toward artistic presentations of substance and integrity, greater importance is placed on their prayer and fellowship life together, supporting a primary reason for their being called together: to worship Almighty God.

Children's Ministry

All children’s choir teams meet on Wednesday evenings as part of the Wednesday Night Alive church-wide education and fellowship program. Each choir will sing in Sunday worship from time to time throughout the year, as well as offer special musical presentations at other church events. Our children’s choirs utilize a church choir education curriculum to help meet the musical and educational goals of the program.
