A Message from Our Pastor

Welcome to Clairmont!

Clairmont is a vibrant church that sees itself as a Mission Community. Clairmont is a place where we seek to "Discover Real Life Together!" While our world becomes more complex every day, here at Clairmont we wrestle with life’s questions and we celebrate the answers that we find in Jesus Christ, the author of "real" life. Our purpose is simple: "To know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and to make him known to others." All of the ministries and programs of the church are based upon this foundation. At Clairmont you will find a wide range of activities and programs designed to appeal to all kinds of people while staying focused on our primary purpose. Whether you are single or married, a student or a career person, a young family, or a retired adult, there’s something for you here. Thanks for coming to Clairmont. Come along on the adventure as we discover real life… together!

Warmly in Christ,

Tom Pipkin

How is Clairmont Organized?
(updated 07/11/08)

Worship and the Arts

  • Music and the Arts Team - Nancy Cullison (09)
  • Technical Support Team - Reid Hartsfield (10)

Purpose: To provide worship experiences for people at all levels of Christian maturity that glorify God and Equip people as disciples of Jesus Christ. The Worship Ministry will be intentional about developing and maintaining worship services directed both toward members of CPC and toward unchurched people in our community – services that create an environment in which the body of Christ worships God profoundly and that accessibly models that worship for persons who do not yet know what it is to worship God. As Christ’s body, Clairmont will seek to have everyone who attends be involved in worshipping God in increasingly deeper ways.

Outreach

  • Community Outreach - Andre Guzman (10)
  • Missions - Darrell Jones (09)
  • Azalea Village - Tom Lockwood (09)

Purpose: To reach out to our community with the Gospel for Jesus Christ. This ministry serves as a “front door” to the church going beyond the church and into the community in order to connect unchurched people with the life of CPC.

Connecting

  • Member Involvement Team - Beth Kennon (09)
  • Stewardship Team - Bob Siegmann (09)
  • Leadership Development - Chuck Powers (10)

Purpose: When a person becomes involved in a ministry, not only is the ministry built up, but that involvement helps the individual grow in the love of God’s people and in the service of God’s Kingdom as a true servant of our Lord: “You shall know them by their fruits” (Matt 7:16). The Member Involvement Ministry coordinates New Member classes, and helps, through the New Member Partner program new members become involved with the congregation and its ministries. We also help members and teams connect with each other in light of members’ gifts and in response to new ministry opportunities. The purpose of the Stewardship team is to deepen people’s awareness of God as the source of every blessing, and to strengthen people’s commitments to steward our entire lives in ways that glorify God, respect His gifts, and demonstrate our ultimate trust in Him.

Equipping

  • Small Groups Team - Naomi Nelson (10)
  • Children’s Ministry Team - Cyndi Todd Lewis (08)
  • Youth Ministry Team - Tricia Sale (10)
  • Adult Discipleship Team - Jean Teare (08)

Purpose: The Equipping Ministry’s purpose is to provide members of all ages with teaching and instruction that not only helps them to deepen their faith, but also prepares them for loving, faithful and joyful service in the world. Bible Studies, Wednesday night programs, Small Groups, Prayer Groups, Youth and Children’s Ministries, and Adult Sunday School are all tools that this ministry stewards to help people grow closer to Christ and to be His ambassadors in the world.

Administration

  • Personnel Team - Jim Hankins (08)
  • Finance - Jim Hardeman (08)
  • Building & Grounds - Jim Dillon (08)

Purpose: To provide each of the other seven Ministries with the resources needed to accomplish THE purpose of CPC.

Congregational Care

  • Shepherd Ministry - (to be announced)
  • Neighborhood Groups - Shelby Davis (09)
  • Member Follow-up- Mary Burgin (10)
  • Visitation - Janie Kinard (08)
  • Visitation - Linda Zimmerman (09)
  • Member Follow-up - Hope Arnold (10)

Purpose: “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35). Clairmont’s Congregational Care Ministry coordinates several teams that work together to bear the healing and saving light of Christ to all. By visiting with the sick and infirm, the grieving and the families of newborns; following up with members who are relocating, or who have been absent; coordinating care from Stephen Ministers; supporting congregational communities of Neighborhood Groups; and praying for members and their families, this ministry serves Christ by caring for His flock (John 21:15-17). This ministry also coordinates ongoing deacon education, and provides seminars to the congregation and the community concerning care issues.

Fellowship

  • Fellowship Events - Bob Holmes (10)
  • Table Fellowship - Sandy Luster (10)
  • Table Fellowship - Barbara Dillon (08)
  • Senior Adults - Ila Shroyer (09)

Purpose: Following Scripture’s exhortation to “encourage one another and build one another up” (1 Thess. 5:11), the Fellowship Ministry plans and coordinates Fellowship Events (like the Barn Dance, Talent Show, Church-wide Retreat and Golf Tournaments), resources Fellowship Groups (like the Singles, Presbyterian Women [PW], and the Seniors), and stewards the fellowship that Christ blesses in the breaking of bread by supporting lunches, Wednesday night suppers, and other meals together (Table Fellowship Team). Our Guest Follow-Up Team invites Clairmont visitors to become regularly involved in the congregation’s fellowship.

Hospitality

  • Guest Follow-up - George Castleberry (08)
  • First Light Hospitality - Tom McRae (10)
  • Information and Welcome - David Roberts (08)
  • Greeters and Ushers - Earl Finley (08)
  • Greeters and Ushers - Mary Butler (09)

Purpose: The Hospitality Ministry seeks to extend the open and loving welcome of Christ to all who visit the Clairmont campus. As Christ calls the world to come unto Him, we seek to be His arms of welcome, sharing the warmth of his love through greeters, ushers, refreshment tables, and the Hospitality Ministry serves Clairmont by extending this same welcome to members that gather on campus for worship and other events.
